According to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, two people were fatally shot on the morning in Gaston of Nov. 15 on the 200 block of Woodcote Drive. The suspected gunman was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot in a car parked in Richland County, the department said in an update posted to Facebook in the late afternoon that day.

“There are no other suspects or persons of interest in today’s shooting,” the department posted. “Our investigation will continue in an effort to close the case and give the family as much information as possible about what happened.”

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the victims as Jaimey McKenzie Green, 20, and Jazzmyne Ajytia Onisha Green, 25, both of Gaston, per a post to her office’s Facebook page. They were pronounced dead at the scene due to gunshot wounds.

According to the Sheriff’s Department Facebook post, officers responded to the area in the Heather Hill subdivision after a neighbor called 911 at 9:15 a.m. and said they heard gunfire.

The CSI team took photos of the scene, and detectives asked neighbors nearby about what they may have seen and heard around the time of the incident.

“Based on what we’ve determined at this point, this appears to be an isolated incident,” the department posted. “We have no reason to believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.”
