DOR is waiting on receipt of further IRS guidance, expected in the next several days.

The IRS deadline change only impacts individuals. Estimated tax payments are still due April 15.

New school, new name

The new middle school in Lexington will have a new name.

The new school, a replacement for Lexington Middle School, will become Lakeside Middle School.

The Lexington County School District 1 board approved the renaming of the new school under construction on Old Cherokee Road.

Lexington Middle Principal Casey Calhoun said they collected feedback from students, families, community members and staff during the renaming process. A majority of current students, families and staff supported rebranding the new school.

Calhoun said the new name ensures the school remains known as LMS, but better reflects the school’s vision and population.
