Taylor, Hall receive top honors from SCBCA

As Will Taylor seeks to add baseball to his football state title won this past year school year, the SC Baseball Coaches Association bestowed him a special honor.

The Clemson signee was named co-Player of the Year in all classifications last week. Taylor, who was also named Region 5-5A Player of the Year, shared the statewide honor with Hartsville’s Cam Cannarella.

In 20 regular season games, Taylor batted .400, had 26 hits, 25 RBI and 6 home runs for the Silver Foxes.

“We’re very proud of Will Taylor and all our players,” Dutch Fork head coach Casey Waites said. “The best is yet to come for Will. He’s a top notch player and young man.”

In addition, Lexington’s Nathan Hall

In addition, Lexington’s Nathan Hall was named Class 5A Player of the Year. In 22 regular season games, he finished .563 with 32 hits, 32 hits and was 19-20 in stolen bases.

I am so proud of Nathan,” Lexington head coach Brian Hucks said. “He has put together one of the best offensive season of any player I have ever coached. He is an extremely talented player that is humble, soft spoken, and works extremely hard. It’s an incredible honor for him as well as the Lexington baseball program.

Joining Hall and Taylor on the Class 5A All-State team were Lexington’s Wells Sykes, Dutch Fork’s Jay Metts and Chapin’s Matthew Becker.

Making the All-State Class 4A team were Region 5-4A Player of the Year John Allen Forrester and teammates Blake Palyok and Corbin Wright of Airport. In Class 3A, Region 5-3A Player of the Year Ashby Vining and Edwin Amerson, both of Gilbert, were selected along with Brookland-Cayce’s Hayden Thomas, Skyler King and Ty Marshall. Selected in Class 2A were Region 3-2A Co-Players of the Year Dom McIntosh and Turner Thackston of Gray Collegiate Batesburg-Leesville’s Andy Chavez.
