Senior Living

In case you didn’t know, I have been the Pastor for Senior Adults and Congregational Care at Lexington Baptist for several years.

For 40 years before, I served as Minister of Music in 5 churches, the last 28 years of that at Lexington Baptist.

Since making a major career change I have experienced some new challenges. I am much more a student of the Bible now, and enjoy the teaching and preaching opportunities.

My wife and I have submerged ourselves in the history of Israel in the Bible. We have a great love for the Holy Land and the development of the nation of Israel since 1948.

We are now hosting annual tour groups to Israel during the winter school break.

Because of all these changes, I felt the need to go back to school and learn what I missed in Seminary. I enrolled as a student in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem taking 2 online courses for 2 years: Conversational Hebrew and Biblical Hebrew.

I have joined the chorus of those who declare, “It is never too late to learn something new!”

As long as you have motivation to do something, you will be able to strive and succeed. And I can tell you, I am much more motivated to learn Hebrew now than I ever was to learn French at Brookland- Cayce High back in the early 70s.

When your circumstances change, you can adapt if you try to see the big picture for your life. So much of life is learning how not to hold on to everything so tightly.

God’s ways are like this: “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” (Matt. 16:25)
