Around pelion

Pelion Town Council will meet October 10 at 6 pm. If you are interested in how the town operates, plan to attend these council meetings, which are open to the public.

Hawthorne Pelion (formerly Big S Drugs) will hold Customer Appreciation Day October 22 from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. There will be multiple drawings, hot dogs, and drinks. Everyone is invited.

Pelion Library will hold technology training October 16 at 10:30 am for ages 18 and up. Registration is required. Preschool Story time will be October 16 for ages 1 to 5 at 11 am. Yarn Art will be October 12 at 10 am for all ages. Books and Beyond meets October 15 at 3 pm for grades K-5 with Night(mare) at the Library. Treat your kids to an evening full of scary stories and spooky activities.

Spine Crackers Book Club meets October 16 at 3 pm for ages 18 and up. This month the book to read is “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens.

Pelion Panthers play at Swansea October 18 at 7:30 pm. The Silver Fox Cheerleading Invitational meets at Dutch Fork High School October 12. Time to be announced.

Rescue Church will

hold a “Forgotten Heroes Celebration” and would

like to invite all Lexington County Sheriff’s Deputies, Lexington County Fire Department, Pelion and surrounding Police Departments, EMT’s, DNR officers, SRO officers, correctional officers, dispatchers, nurses and families, friends of anyone else that would like to help celebrate our local heroes. There will be guest speakers and lunch after the service. This event will be held October 13 at 11 am at the Pelion High School Commons (enter from Hwy. 178).

Pelion High Girls varsity tennis plays Orangeburg Prep at 4 pm October 15. JV/V volleyball plays Gilbert at 5 pm October 15. Cross Country meets at Lexington High October 15 at 5:30 pm. JV/V volleyball plays Wagener-Salley October 16 at 5 pm.

Pelion High will hold its Sadie Hawkins Dance October 12 at 7 pm.
