Truckers to spot human trafficking

Posted

South Carolina’s Human Trafficking Task Force has added another ally.

SC Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the SC Beer Wholesalers Association has joined the task force at the Dec. 6 quarterly meeting in West Columbia.

SCBWA makes a million delivery stops at over 11,000 retail accounts all over the state.

Its drivers will be trained in how to spot signs of human trafficking.

They’ll also carry quick-reference cards on how to report suspected trafficking.

The association’s delivery trucks will get new signs that give the Human Trafficking Hotline, which will be seen by drivers all over the state.

The Attorney General’s Office started the task force in 2014.

The task force works with federal, state, and local agencies.
