It is the week of red heart candy boxes, roses, flowers and romantic date nights at nice restaurants. The celebration of love is in the air!   February is also Dental Health month and Groundhog’s day.  Make sure to schedule your yearly dental check-up soon to polish those pearly whites!

Punxsutawney Phil gave us good news and predicted an early spring!   We will see if he is right!

For all you who love the lake, the next Lake Murray Association meeting is February 28 at 1274 Hollywood Road, Saluda, at 6:30 pm. One of the main topics will be how the new sewer system will affect the lake for details visit  lakemurrayassociation.com

Enjoy a free visit at our wonderful Riverbanks Zoo on Free Fridays in February.  Not only does the zoo love wild animals, but it is also wild about recycling. On February 23, 9-1 pm, you can bring those electronics (up to 8 per household) paper to shred, scrap metals, used cooking oils and Goodwill donations. Clean out those closets and garages and bring those items for recycling!

What Do you do with those prom and bridesmaid dresses taking up space in your closet? The Cinderella Project needs those dresses. All donated, gently worn dresses, shoes and jewelry will be used to make the dreams of many high school Cinderella’s come true. Drop off items at the Irmo location at Lawyer Lisa’s at 3202 Fernandina Road, and at the Chapin Chamber of Commerce at 302 Columbia Ave. For more information, visit cinderellaprojectsc.com

The SC Department of Archives and history and The Chapin Historical Association need your help!  Anyone who has photos and stories that are specific to the town of Chapin should contact Eric Plaag, who is helping the town with creating an official National Register Designation of a Chapin Commercial District. EmaiL Eric Plaag at eric@carolinahistorial.com .

“Save Our Students” from drugs and alcohol is the goal of the SOS meeting at Chapin United Methodist Church, 415 Lexington Ave, February 26, 6-7 pm. Parents, community members and residents of Lexington Richland School District 5 are invited. Panelists from the medical community, law enforcement, drug councilors and the mental health department will be there to focus on prevention through education and resources to address the drug and alcohol issues in the District 5  schools.  Visit Face-Book SOS Chapin SC for more information.
