Watkins chosen as Cayce’s new city manager

Cayce has a new city manager.

Cayce City Council announced Friday that Brian Watkins will fill the role. He starts Monday, July 23.

Watkins replaces Rebecca Vance who held the position for seven years. Vance left Cayce in March for a management position in Dorchester County.

Rachelle Moody was interim city manager while Cayce searched for Vance’s replacement.

According to Cayce Spokeswoman Ashley Hunter, Watkins has more than 12 years experience working in city government. Before that, Watkins worked on a U.S. Navy base.

Watkins comes to Cayce from Milton, FL. He was city manager there since 2008.

“We are excited to welcome Brian Watkins as the new City Manager for Cayce,” said Mayor Elise Partin. “His background and knowledge of local government and management as well as his military leadership will bring valuable experience and new ideas to our city.”

Watkins graduated Clemson University and holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
