Weekend shuttle available in W.C.

AROUND CAYCE, SPRINGDALE & WEST COLUMBIA

The City of West Columbia is running a weekend shuttle service. It runs every 15 minutes from 9 am until 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday and goes from West Columbia City Hall, 200 N. 12th St., to the Riverwalk Amphitheater. Pick up is in the City Hall parking lot. The service being provided with hospitality funds.

The city of West Columbia is providing free valet and curbside parking while construction is taking place on State Street.

Congratulations to West Columbia’s Hunter Helms of Gray Collegiate Academy, who committed to play football at Holy Cross. Helms, a quarterback, will play his senior year at Gray in 2019. He will play in 2020 at Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass.

Helms said he took an official visit last week to Holy Cross. He also visited other schools and had offers from Troy, Liberty, Elon and Tennessee Chattanooga, among others.  

The West Columbia

Mayor and City Council presented Ms. Mary Brooks and Ms. Christy Henderson with a resolution recognizing the Lexington Two Community Education Center for its service in the city and the city’s education community. Mayor pro tem Tem Miles presented the award.

The City of Cayce has announced a special exhibit honoring the members of the 1964 Cayce Dixie Youth Little League World Series Championship team, opening at the Cayce Historical Museum Aug. 16 at 3 pm.

Renovation is underway on 1205 D Avenue in Triangle City to create a new flex space. The former medical office building is being redeveloped by Joe E. Taylor Jr., former S.C. Secretary of commerce, to upgrade this commercial area.
