West Columbia is a ‘fire safe’ community

Posted

The West Columbia Fire Department was recognized as a 2019 Fire Safe South Carolina Community.

Fire Safe South Carolina and State Fire, in conjunction with the SC State Firefighters’ Association and the SC State Association of Fire Chiefs, award the designation to select fire departments across the state of South Carolina who have demonstrated a commitment to developing and implementing successful community risk reductions plans in their jurisdictions.

“Congratulations to the men and women of the West Columbia Fire Department for this award, said West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles.

“These folks work hard everyday to keep our community safe through responding to fire calls, wrecks, medical assistance, and all other emergency calls. We are a better and safer community because to their hard work.”

West Columbia Fire Chief Chris Smith said, “The Fire Safe South Carolina Community Designation is a reminder of our community’s risk reduction programs’ effectiveness and will hopefully continue to save lives.”
