Cayce shooting reported

The Cayce Department of Public Safety has detained 2 men following a shooting Monday.

Officials said the incident happened on the 2200 block of Taylor Road.

911 dispatchers received approximately 12 calls related to the incident, according to WIS-TV.

Sgt. Evan Antley with the Cayce DPS said 30 rounds were fired in the backyard toward houses. Officials said alcohol and drugs were a factor.

Evan Michael Vermullen, 22, has been charged with discharging a firearm under influence.

Vermullen and a 2nd man were both taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

Couple arrested for meth, guns

Lexington County deputies arrested a man and a woman after seizing meth, guns and thousands of dollars.

Kelly Ann Jordan, 33, is charged with trafficking meth and possessing a weapon during a violent crime, according to arrest warrants.

Clifford Lee Kyzer, 33, is charged with trafficking meth, possessing a weapon during a violent crime, operating a chop shop and receiving stolen goods, according to warrants.

Deputies found 2 kilograms of meth in Jordan’s car, said Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon.

Narcotics agents then seized 15 ounces of meth, 8 guns, ammunition, body armor and $2,520 in cash from a home, according to Koon.

Jordan, a resident of Anderson County, is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center. Kyzer has been released after posting bail.

Lexington man admits to assaults

Kevan D. Parker, of Lexington, pled guilty to sexually assaulting 2 minor children.

His victims were 10 and 13 at the time of the assaults.

Parker, 39, pled guilty to Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 1st degree and Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 2nd degree.

Circuit Court Judge Walton J. McLeod IV sentenced Parker to 30 years in prison.

Under current state law, the criminal sexual conduct charges are classified as “no parole” offenses.

High-speed chase in Gaston

Gaston police officers arrested a habitual offender Tuesday.

Lesley Jerome Brown was charged under the state’s habitual offender laws with Driving Under Suspension 3rd Offense, Possession of and/ or trying to Conceal or Dispose of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Methamphetamine, Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest, and Failure to Stop for a Blue Light.

Police took Brown into custody following a vehicle pursuit, crash, and short foot chase.

The arrest was a coordinated effort with the Swansea Police Department.

Swansea man arrested for child porn

A Swansea man has been charged with 9 counts of 3rd degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Authorities say Christopher Dale Baldwin, 36, was caught with multiple images of child pornography Mar. 5.

Investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force coordinated with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office to make the arrest.

Baldwin faces up to 10 years imprisonment on each count.
