Did you hear about Windows 11? Microsoft announced the next version of Windows is coming this fall. You should be able to download the new software for free if you already have Windows 10.

What’s new with Windows 11? Windows 11 will look more like Mac OS. It will also have new functional bells and whistles. You’ll be able to download and run Android apps on your PC. It will also allow you to customize your display with widgets.

Widgets are AI-powered feeds. They can display information like news headlines, the weather and your to-do list. To see the full list of features visit: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11 .

Will my computer support it? Although Windows 11 will be a free download, whether your computer can handle it is another story. Microsoft had a PC Health Check App immediately following the announcement. Unfortunately, the tool wasn’t functioning properly and was taken down.

Microsoft says system requirements are a 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC); 4 gigabytes (GB) or more of RAM, and 64 GB or larger storage space. For complete details visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11-specifications .

Until Microsoft re-releases the health check app, check some of your hardware the old-fashioned way. Open the Windows Start menu and open Settings. In Settings, scroll down to the bottom of the left menu and click ‘About’. This will display your device specifications including your processor, RAM and system type.
