White Knoll High School hosts the Special Olympics Spring Games for Lexington County this Saturday. Last year this event drew hundreds of students for the various events in the competition. It’s open to spectators who would like to come out and cheer on the athletes and runs from 9 am until 2 pm.

gospel singing group Brian Free and Assurance will be in concert Saturday night at Life Springs Worship Center on Platt Springs Road across the street from White Knoll High School. The concert begins at 6:30 pm, there is no admission charge but a love offering will be collected. Brian Free is a huge presence in southern gospel circles, from his beginnings with Gold City Quartet and now on his own. Songs such as “Say Amen,” “Long as I Got King Jesus,” and more make Free one of the most recognizable tenors on the gospel music scene. The harmonies the trio can create are something to hear. For more information, contact the church, (803) 957-2221, or visit www.lswc.com.

Second, after the service, the United Methodist Men will cook up their annual Country-Fried Steak Dinner in the fellowship hall. Love offerings will be accepted for the dinner, which starts at 11 am. Call the church 359-4031 for info.
