White Knoll High School recently announced the members of its inaugural Athletic Booster Club Hall of Fame class, featuring both student-athletes and coaches. Honorees were Kerry Donovan Allen, class of 2004, who lettered four times in track and tennis, and was the first female in school history to receive an athletic scholarship (to USC Aiken). David “Lumpy” Anderson, a 2005 grad who lettered four times in baseball, three all-state honors; Ivan Bumgarner, MVP of the Timberwolf football team in 2000 with a record-setting 220 tackles; Steve Evans, the first Timberwolf basketball player to score 1,000 points and a four-year letterman with all-state and North/South honors in 2005; and former baseball coach Johnny Thompson, who from 2000-2011 led teams to four region championships, four district championships and the 2010 4A state championship.

I’m thankful the damages were not more severe, but we did see some from Sunday night’s storms that passed through Red Bank with some tornado activity.

Most noticeably, Red Bank Baptist had its front entry columns damaged and several nearby houses had tree and wind damage. Power lines were down as late as Monday morning on South Lake Drive and also along Muddy Springs Road, where multiple trees fell. Tthere were no reported injuries from the storms.

Happy Birthday this week to Kathy Ly-brand, Tammy Baker, Sara Marie Dye, Vera Snelgrove, Sara Wilson, Thomas Roof, Paul Jones, Ruby Smith, Randy Powell, Elizabeth Gates, and Dianne Kyzer.

Congratulations and happy anniversary to Robert and Elaine Bedenbaugh on the occasion of their 55th wedding anniversary March 1. Happy anniversary also to Zach and Diane Huffines, Stephen and Megan Whittle, Freddie and Jackie Barr, and Ken and Jodi Drennon.
