Who’s that on the Clemson sideline?

Isn’t that Nikki Haley down there on the sideline? Wasn’t she governor and United Nations ambassador? Didn’t she used to live in Lexington? Yes, you’re right. The Clemson University graduate, former governor and member of the SC House from Lexington was on the sidelines Monday for the national college football title game Clemson won. Haley was with hundreds of Clemson fans who made the 2,500 mile trip to Santa Clara, CA, for the game Alabama’s Crimson Tide lost to the Tigers 44-16. “We didn’t just win,” Haley said. “We dominated. “They made the Clemson family proud, they made South Carolina proud, and the country just saw what we’re made of,” she said. “Clemson’s going to be on the charts for a long time.” The betting line before the game favored Alabama by 5 points. A lot of Alabama fans were not only disappointed. The loss cost money. For more on Clemson’s 3rd national football championship, see Page B1.
