Have you or a loved one been in a violent relationship? Did you feel like you had no voice? You are not alone. Domestic violence happens often and can be fatal. You begin to blame yourself for every mistake. You begin to hate yourself. You become isolated with nowhere to turn. Your situation is not hopeless. There is help available to get you out of a violent situation. Domestic abuse behaviors include them:
• Belittling you.
• Controlling what you wear.
• Keeping you from accessing money.
• Determining your life choices.
• Constantly accusing you of infidelity.
• Isolating you from family and friends.
• Keeping tabs on you.
• Lashing out /punching walls.
• Physically assaulting you.
• Sexually assaulting you or forcing you to engage in sexual acts.
• Threatening to kill you or someone you know. If you are experiencing these behaviors in your relationship, contact the crisis text line at 741741. A trained counselor will assist you through text messages. Or call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).
