February is for Lovers” and Cotton Branch Animal Sanctuary in Gilbert invites you to bring love to animals. Each rescued animal lives at the farm for the rest of their natural lifespan. Whether it’s a cow for 30 years or a pig or chicken for 15, every animal is provided a lifetime of love and safety. Every dollar donated to the sanctuary directly helps the animals, from life-saving veterinary care to food and shelter,. Each generous contribution changes the lives of these animals for the better.

Cotton Branch has several fundraisers throughout the year. February 10 it had a Vegan Mac Down in Charleston. This event sold out and everyone who attended got to taste a variety of macaroni dishes from several chefs in Charleston. On Saturday CBAS had 52 volunteers who helped with chores at the farm. Afterwards everyone enjoyed a covered dish luncheon, vegan style. The next workday at the farm will be March 9. If you are interested in donating or volunteering, visit www.cottonbranch.org .

Gilbert Pack 60 Scouts will have the annual Blue and Gold Banquet February 17 at Gilbert Elementary School. The banquet also will celebrate the 109th year of scouting. Pack 60’s accomplishments will be shared and Scout leaders will be recognized. Each of the Scouts is encouraged to enter a silly/ creative dessert for competition.

A few lucky children found Valentine’s Day rocks hidden in our Gilbert Community Park. The rocks had cute little Valentines and other designs. Each rock has a message on the back asking the finder to report their find on the “Gilbert Rocks” Facebook page.

Beulah United Methodist Church is now taking donations for its yard sale in March. They are in need of good, clean clothing, household items, furniture, toys, and tools (no electronics or old TVs). If you have items to donate, call Mary Price at 892-2618.

The Gilbert-Summit Library will have a hands-on workshop with their Tween-Extreme program on February 19 at 4 pm. This class will spark an understanding of electronic circuits using Lego’s WeDo robotics kit. The class encourages children in science, technology, engineering and math.
