South Carolina taxpayers will soon receive $50 rebate checks thanks to the Mega Millions lottery winner.

Lawmakers determined $61 million of the tax dollars generated by the 2018 winner would be used to fund $50 rebate checks for qualifying taxpayers.

More than 1 million qualifying taxpayers are expected to receive a check later this year from the South Carolina Department of Revenue.

Updates on the time frame for issuing and mailing rebate checks to qualifying taxpayers will be posted on www.dor.sc.gov/rebate .
