This edition’s Athlete of the Week winners recorded high-scoring games for their teams and brought home a victory.

Basketball season has concluded, and this week’s male athlete shined on the biggest stage and won his team a state title. The female Athlete of the Week is just getting started but has already proven to be a spark for her team.

Voting for Athlete of the Week runs from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Monday each week at lexingtonchronicle.com/athleteoftheweek.

Cam Scott

Lexington’s Cam Scott concluded his high school basketball career with a state championship and his final Athlete of the Week honor.

The Texas signee helped give the Wildcats their first state title in 24 years after a 67-48 win over Byrnes in the 5A championship game. Scott had a double-double in the contest, recording 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Scott concludes his Lexington career on top. The Wildcats went wire to wire as the state’s No. 1 ranked overall team in the 5A classification and dominated their way through the postseason, winning all but one game by at least 19 points.

Scott will go down as one of the great, if not the greatest, Wildcat basketball players of all time. His resume stacks up with anyone, ending his career as the team’s career leading scorer, Region Player of the Year, S.C. 5A Player of the Year, 2023 Gatorade Player of the Year and now, a state champion.

Victoria Coleman

Airport’s Victoria Coleman has had an exceptional start to the season, racking up points and wins in the early going.

The Eagles have jumped out to a 3-0 start this season after picking up wins over Heathwood Hall, Crestwood and Westwood last week. Coleman played a significant role in these wins.

The sophomore already has 22 points this season, after exploding on the offensive end. She scored seven goals and assisted with eight more.

Coleman’s performances have gotten better after each game this season. She started with a two-goal, one-assist game against Heathwood Hall, a two-goal, four-assist game against Crestwood and ended the week with a three-goal, three-assist game against Westwood.
