Lexington Sheriff’s Department Arrests 6 After Storage Facility Broken Into 2 Nights in a Row

The same storage facility was broken into twice in as many days last week.

On Nov. 30, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of five adults and one minor following the incidents that occurred on the Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, according to a press release.

William Hinson, 50, and Jessical Spillman, 39, were arrested along with the minor for allegedly breaking into U-Haul Moving and Storage on Jamil Road on Nov. 27. The two adults are charged with third-degree burglary. The minor was relinquished to a parent.

Michael Hutchens, 32, Janis Simmons, 45, and Donald Hudson, 41, were arrested for breaking into the same storage facility the next day. All are charged with third-degree burglary. The release calls the second break-in a separate incident.

“Our deputies responded after a call was made both nights stating the caller had seen people going in and out of units as well as taking items out of open units,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted.

The person who called in the Nov. 27 break-in blocked the alleged burglars from leaving, allowing deputies to arrest them.

The three accused of breaking into the storage unit Nov. 28 were arrested after a traffic stop at the Circle K on Sunset Boulevard. The caller to the department identified them as the same people she saw going in and out of units at the storage facility.

All five adults arrested in conjunction with the breakins were transported to the Lexington County Detention Center.
