Witness: Cayce doctor admitted shooting

A Cayce doctor has been arrested in two deaths at his home.

One was his wife, the other a friend.

On May 1, Dr. Adam Marcus Lazzarini’s wife Vanessa Brooke Biery, 43, was found dead in their home at 256 Hunters Mill Drive, of unknown circumstances.

Her husband reported her death.

Autopsy results are pending, but Cayce Department of Public Safety Chief Byron Snellgrove said her death is considered suspicious.

On Oct. 9, 2017, Dr. Lazzarini shot and killed William Player Holland, 30, according to a Cayce Public Safety Department warrant reading that:

• Dr. Lazzarini showed reckless disregard for the safety of others and was arrested, May 2.

A $250,000 bond was set May 3, on involuntary manslaughter and obstructing justice charges.

• Lazzarini, 46, was arrested for the shooting at his home Oct. 9, 2017.

• “While under the influence of alcohol,” Lazzarini fired a handgun pointed at William Holland’s chest, killing the Scranton, SC, man. His body was found on a bedroom floor.

• Lazzarini lied to investigators with false and conflicting versions of the incident.

Investigators said Lazzarini withheld information about a shooting witness to obstruct their investigation.

The unidentified witness has provided details, and a second witness gave details of the doctor’s admission shortly after the incident, police said.

The 2017 shooting death had been ruled as accidental. In that incident, Holland died as the result of a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Lazzarini specializes in orthopedic surgery in West Columbia.

Chief Snellgrove said the Lexington County Coroner’s Office, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, SLED, the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are assisting

The FBI is involved due to investigative tools it can use that local police do not have.

He said investigators believe more people have information about the death.

He asked that anyone with information contact authorities at 794-0456.
