Another use for corn

Corn is good for more than popping.

One part of the plant may even have medicinal uses.

Corn silk is one of the female parts of the corn plant.

The male part of the plant is the tassel which sprouts from the top of the plant.

The tassel produces pollen.

Corn silks are actually tiny tubes where grains of pollen will land.

Corn silk can be used for bladder infections, inflammation of the urinary system, inflammation of the prostate, kidney stones and bed-wetting.

It is also used to treat congestive heart failure, diabetes, high blood pressure, fatigue and high cholesterol levels.

How to use corn silk:

• Use one tablespoon of corn silk to 1 cup of boiling water.

• Let steep for 10 minutes, then strain.

• Drink 3-4 times per day.

As always, check with your physician before trying any new health regiments.
