The fall sports season is in full swing. Football fans are the happiest people this time of year with high school, college, and NFL games all in the limelight. The other sports, cross-country, field hockey, soccer, volleyball and men’s water polo, take the back seat.

In the Irmo Chapin area, interest in archery is hitting the bulls-eye for many. Target archery, 3D shooting, and bow hunting are quite popular. Recurve, traditional longbows, and hunting bows are hot selling items. In Lexington alone, there are 17 archery teams in the local schools.

The Department of Natural Resources has an archery in schools program in the Ir-mo and Chapin areas, with a team at Lake Murray Elementary. As the archery programs start back up, I wish them perfect center shots and high scores at the tournaments this year. For information on adult teams, visit www.sc-archery.com.

Congratulations to Leland Teal, who was elected to fill a vacant town council seat. Teal, served on town from 1981 to 2014.
