Attend a soup swap at the library

The Pelion library will host technology training January 9 at 10:30 am. This program gives personal assistance with your computer, tablet or smartphone. You will learn how to set up email, navigate the internet, download library materials, search for jobs and more. Registration is required.

Preschool Storytime will be January 9 at 11 am for ages 2-5 years. Yarn art will be January 12 at 10 am for ages 13 and up. Beginner and advanced crafters are invited to share ideas and learn new skills.

Spine Crackers Book Club meets January 16 at 3 pm. This book club reads a variety of books and encourages lively discussion in a friendly, casual atmosphere. The book for this month is “High Tide Club” by Mary Kay Andrews. This event is for ages 18 and up.

January 17 there will be a Soup Swap at 6 pm A soup swap is an easy, practical and fun sort of gathering. Soup lovers come together and bring several quarts of their favorite soup to share. You take turns swapping soups and everyone goes home with a different soup than what they brought. It is a great way to bring people together and foster home cooking.

Forts Pond Elementary School hosts a Red Cross Blood Drive January 17 from 2 until 7 pm. You may register on line by going to redcross.org or call Judy Moore at 803-821-2552.

A reminder that Holy Trinity will hold a special service on January 6. Caroling begins at 5:30 pm.and the symbols on the Chrismon tree will be explained. Refreshments will be served after the service.

Pelion High varsity basketball plays Edisto on January 11 at 6 pm. The Wrestling team meets at River Bluff January 12 at 7 am. Pelion varsity basketball plays Mid-Carolina January 12 at 1 pm.

January 15 events include boys JV basketball plays at Swansea at 4:30 pm, The varsity basketball team plays at Swansea at 6 pm.

January 16 events include the JV girls basketball at Wagener-Salley at 4:30 pm and the varsity basketball team at Wagener-Salley at 6 pm. The Wrestling varsity team meets Fairfield Central Heathwood Hall January 17 at 5 p.
