The 2018 Building Industry Association’s Associate Member of the Year is Brandon Jeffcoat of Clark’s Termite & Pest Control. He served on the BIA Board of Directors as the 2018 Associate Vice President and on the SMC Board of Directors as Chair of the Program Committee. In addition, he serves on the committees for the BIA Golf Classic and the Michael P. Nieri Bass Classic and he is Chief Oyster Cooker for the annual Big Thursday Rivalry Party.

The Commercial Contractor of the Year Award went to 84 Lumber of Lexington. Founded in 1956 and headquartered in Eighty Four, Pennsylvania, 84 Lumber is a privately held supplier of building materials, manufactured components, and industry-leading services for single- and multi-family residences and commercial buildings.

Industrial lease in Lexington

NAI Avant announced the recent lease of a ±28,775 square foot industrial space at 293 Industrial Drive in Lexington. Broker Lee Bussell, Jr. represented the landlord, ACC Properties 2, LLC. The new tenant, Hawkins HVAC Distributors will occupy suite C and D of the industrial building.

County principal appointed to EOC

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has appointed Gray Collegiate Academy principal Dr. Brian Newsome as his educator appointee to the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee.

Newsome replaces Anne Bull, whose term on the committee had expired. He has served as principal at Gray Collegiate Academy since 2016.

The SC Education Oversight Committee is an independent, non-partisan group made up of 18 educators, business persons, and elected leaders. The committee is dedicated to reporting facts, measuring change, and promoting progress within South Carolina’s education system.
