Audrey Binkley was inspired to create the Blessing Box after going on a mission trip with her church. Audrey, then 16, met a man who was struggling to feed himself and his family. She said she was upset after seeing this man’s situation. She wondered how people could get food for their families.

Soon after her trip a year ago she created a Blessing Box filled with food for anyone in need at Restore Hope in Gilbert.

Hope Binkley, Audrey’s mother, said she is overwhelmed by response. Since then another Blessing Box has been placed at Beulah United Methodist Church in Gilbert.

Hope says you are welcome to donate nonperishable food items, hygiene products, dog food and clothes. The boxes are restocked after they are emptied. Many have been able to feed their families.

Plans are in the works now for a 2nd annual Blessing Box fundraiser and Christmas Bazaar. Last year the turnout raised money to keep the boxes filled.

FAMILIES ARE invited to a Trunk or Treat drive thru at Beulah United Methodist Church Saturday, Oct. 17, 4:30 to 6 pm. Over 25 cars will be decorated with Halloween decorations and candy.
