The bridge on Cedarcrest Drive over I-20 was set to reopen Tuesday afternoon.
The bridge was struck by a tractor-trailer on Sept. 20, damaging the columns and underside of the bridge.
Construction crews have been working to restore the bridge for the past few weeks.
The SC Department of Transportation, its contractors, and our state, county, and industry partners worked to complete this “quick response” emergency repair in only 23 days to allow this bridge to return to service for the public.
SCDOT reminds the public to use caution while driving through work zones.
Motorists can use SC-DOT’s 511 Traveler system: http://www.511sc.org/ to help make travel decisions.
For more information concerning this project, the public may contact SCDOT Construction Engineer, John Burns at (803) 699-5068.
