The annual Thanksgiving Service was held November 18 at Pelion Methodist Church. This event is sponsored by the churches within the town and everyone is invited to attend. The service was conducted by Rev. Julius Hadden, Forts Pond Elementary held an appreciation event November 16 for the substitutes who are so dedicated to serving at FPES in the classrooms. These ladies are always willing to come in at a moment’s notice, fill in where and when needed, and also do a lot of volunteer activities at the school. Mallard moms meet on December 10 at 7 am.

Pelion Middle School will host its Winter Choral Concert at the Pelion Performing Arts Center on December 6 at 6 p.m.

Pelion High will host its Winter Showcase December 9 at 3 pm at the Performing Arts Center. The 5th and 8th grades will perform the Winterfest at 8:30 December 10 and the Winterfest Concert will 11:05 am.

Pelion High Varsity wrestling will be December 1 at 7:30 am at Cardinal Newman.JV Basketball will be December 3 at 6 pm at Mid-Carolina. Varsity wrestling vs W-S North Augusta will be at 5 pm on December

4. JV wrestling vs Gilbert is December 5 at 5:30 pm and varsity basketball at Columbia is at 6 pm. December 6 JV basketball meets at Columbia at 5:30 pm. and varsity basket ball plays at White Knoll at 6 pm.

Pelion Senior Center will host exercise with Charlotte Brown’s Christmas Tree on November 29 at 10 am. Rev. Byron Dixon, Rev. Jerry Branham, Rev. Miriam Hadden, and Rev. Bill Ebener. Food was donated for PACES, a local food bank serviced by Pelion Nazarene Church. PACES helps more than 50 families per month and is open each Tuesday from 9 am until noon at the Nazarene Church.

A reminder that the Pelion Christmas Parade will be December 8 at 3:30 pm, with the tree lighting at the community center and lots of activities after the parade.

Pelion Library will host Tween Extreme, a Taste Test Challenge, for grades 4-7 on November 29 at 6 pm.

Pelion Elementary welcomes teacher cadets from Pelion High to learn and work with the teachers. The teacher cadets and their cooperating teachers are Emily Barney with Nicole Shumpert; Taylor Eubanks with Ruth Ann Treaster; Abagail Goff with Ashely Robertson; and Tayler Murray with Katie Ricard. Lauren Garner is the teacher cadet instructor at Pelion High. The teacher cadets began on November 14 and will be at the elementary school until December 7.

Congratulations to our 100% Paw-some Students in Related Arts for the month of October. They are Carolina Skipper, P.E. (Coach Coulter); Evan Stevens, P.E. (Coach Siler); Jacoby King, Computer Lab (Ms. Grant); Linda West, Computer Lab (Ms. Learn); Bristol Bazemore, Art; Matthew Proffitt, STEM; Rhaygen Platts, Music; and Ja’Shon Jones, Spanish.
