County leads SC in employment

Lexington County unemployment fell from 3.3% in April to 2.7% in May, the state’s lowest.

Unemployment rates fell in every SC county from April to May as more businesses reopened and people went back to work.

Business owners still say they can’t find and hire enough people.

Richland County’s drop from 4.6% in April to 3.7% in May.

These were the latest figure available.

Jobless rates hit 7.7% in Lexington County and 9.7% in May 2020.

The Columbia metropolitan area added 2,900 jobs from April to May 2021.
