Peaches may have escaped late winter freezing temperatures with little damage.
Agricultural experts are asking farmers across South Carolina about what 2 consecutive nights of freezing weather may have done to the peach, blueberry and strawberry crops.
These crops were in early bloom due to an unseasonably warm February.
Initial assessments show minimal damage.
“Farming has been difficult the past few years because of numerous natural disasters, but our farmers remain resilient and passionate about our industry,” said Hugh Weathers, SC Commissioner of Agriculture.
