Henry McMaster, Alan Wilson and Paula Rawl Calhoon all won their primary runoffs Tuesday night.

Lexington County voters in a crowded primary runoff Tuesday decided that:

• Gov. McMaster won the GOP primary, besting Greenville businessman and Marine veteran John Warren.

Among Lexington County voters, McMaster had 62.2% of the vote to Warren’s 37.8%.

Statewide, McMaster had 54% of votes at press time.

McMaster had the support of President Donald Trump who backed him at an Airport High rally Monday.

Two primary opponents – Irmo native Catherine Templeton and Lt. Gov. Kevin Bryant – had thrown their support to Warren.

McMaster will face Democratic state Rep. James Smith in November.

• In the runoff for SC Attorney General, incumbent Alan Wilson of Lexington took 66.2% of the vote.

His challenger, state Rep. Todd Atwater of Lexington, had 33.8%.

Wilson had endorsements from law enforcement officers across the state.

Atwater had an endorsement by Greenville attorney William Herlong who was eliminated in the primary.

Statewide, Wilson had 65% of votes at press time.

He is expected to beat Democrat Constance Anastopoulo in November.

Wilson’s father, Congressman Joe Wilson of Springdale, will face either Sean Carrigan or attorney Annabelle Robertson. Carrigan was ahead with 52% of the Democratic vote at presstime.

• In the race for Lexington County District 87 House seat, local business woman Paula Rawl Calhoon won with 54% of the vote. Lexington businessman and former Town Council member Todd Carnes had 46%.

Calhoon will face Democrat Diane Summers in November’s general election.
