Eli Adams has been told by doctors that he may have as little as a month to live.
The 14-year-old Lexington bone cancer patient has elected not to continue treatment for a 3rd relapse.
Eli will be in Charlotte Sunday with Tyyahna Hopper, a 16-year-old from Shelby, NC, who had a heart transplant 6 years ago.
Now that heart is failing.
She is on a wait list for a new heart but has been told by her doctors that at her age her odds are slim.
Both will be in Charlotte with their families to watch the NFL conference championships and get an end-of-life wish as part of the 2nd annual Marty Lyons Foundation Watch for Wishes.
“I have been doing this for 38 years, and I’ll do it another 38 to help these children,” said Lyons.
Lyons is a member of the fabled New York Jets Sack Exchange and the team’s current radio broadcaster.
His foundation has chapters in 13 states. The NC Chapter is working to fulfill wishes of 15 children, including Eli and Tyyahna.
What Eli wants most is a snowmobile adventure.
Thanks to the foundation, Eli will get his wish.
“As the chapter’s president, I have been overwhelmed by the need here but also the immense generosity of the people around us,” Lyons said.
Eli’s mother, Robyn Adam, said her son would spend every day playing sports if he had the chance.
“Cancer has not dampened his fearless attitude in the least. Snowmobiling will be a new experience.
“I’m sure within 30 seconds of arriving, Eli will throw down a challenge to see who is the fastest!”
