Roy Cromer of Lexington went from high school to professional baseball.
His sons have all been baseball stars.
Cromer, who died Monday night at Lexington Medical Center, is believed to have been a covid-19 victim.
Cromer came back from Major League Baseball to attend the University of South Carolina where he coached the JV team.
His sons Burke, DT and Brandon were stars at Lexington High, Carolina and the major leagues and are in the high school’s Hall of Fame.
Another son Tripp played at Lake City High, Carolina and in the major leagues.
Cromer taught at Lexington High and gave hundreds of kids baseball lessons, said Ted Pitts, CEO of the State Chamber of Commerce and a Lexington native.
“Everyone called him Ole Dad which his personalized license plate read,” Pitts said.
