Gas tanker catches fire in Gilbert

A tanker truck offloading fuel at a Gilbert-area service station caused a fire destroying the tanker, 4 cars and the station.

Firefighters from the Lexington County Fire Service, Columbia Metropolitan Airport, Batesburg-Leesville and Irmo were dispatched to the 300 block of Broad Street in reference to a commercial structure fire April 6.

The gas station, which was also utilized as a service garage, was deemed a total loss, while 4 vehicles and the gas tanker were destroyed. There were no injuries reported.
