Girl Scout finds gold on Lexington VFW Post

Posted

Lexington Girl Scout Raina Michelle Bryant has created larger-than-life art.

Her design covers the Lexington VFW Post in American soldiers throughout the nation’s history, from its founding to the 21st century.

The Girl Scout Troop 2316 member spent over 100 hours at the Post designing, sketching, and finally completing the 16 portraits.

For her vision in designing and creating the mural, Bryant was awarded the Girl Scout’s highest badge, the Gold Award.

Gold Award Girl Scouts “are the dreamers and doers who make the world a better place.”

The Girl Scout website describes the Gold Award as “truly remarkable - proof” that Raina Bryant not only can make a difference, but that she already has.

Bryant graduated from Lexington High School in May as a member of the Class of 2020. She will attend Winthrop University in the fall, majoring in education.

You can view the mural at 424 Cedarcrest Drive in Lexington.
