Ihave had my fair share of sleepless nights and still do. I’m sure some of you have had the same. Whether it be from anxiety, stress or other factors, how do you manage falling asleep? Some people will change their diets and begin exercise if not currently doing so. Others turn to medications. Our bodies naturally produce what is called melatonin. This hormone helps us relax and fall asleep and wake up when we have enough. Stress, poor diet and not having a normal routine can lower our melatonin. Recently, the FDA reported patients who took Lunesta and Ambien developed problems of sleepwalking, driving while not fully awake, overdosing, burning themselves, loss of limbs from extreme cold and self-inflicted injuries.US drug regulators have issued a warning about these medications. The drugs are available in low-cost generic versions and now will be sold with a warning. If you’ve experienced these episodes, do not take these medicines. Their generic names are Lunesta-Eszopiclone and Ambien-Zolepidem. While there are many other medications for sleep aid, I personally believe in treating your body naturally without harsh medications. As many of us know, sleep is important, and going natural could be a better solution overall. Take a look at your daily schedule, and your diet plan. See if you notice any changes in what you do now compared to what you used to. Try essential oils like Lavender, Bergamot, Chamomile, Sage. Take a 10 mg low dose of Melatonin. Some prefer gummy versions or dissolvable tablets. I personally use a mixture of essential oils and melatonin. It has made a world of difference for me. It may help you. As always, check with your physician to make sure this will not interact with any current treatment.
