Freshman Hannah Stephenson was named Peach Belt Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week, the conference announced on March 7.
The Lexington High School graduate finished tied for 1st at the Low Country Invitational in Bluffton shooting rounds of 73 and 76 to finish at 7-over 149. She led the Bearcats to a fourth-place finish in the 13-team field, Lander’s second top-five finish of the season.
Her 2-over 73 in the opening round was Lander’s best individual round of the year. In 7 events this season, Stephenson has finished inside the top-10 three times.
She is the 5h player in program history to earn PBC Golfer of the Week honors and the first freshman to do so since Teresa Caballer Hernani in 2012-13.
Lander returns to competition Saturday and Sunday at the Terrier Intercollegiate at Hilton Head Island. The Lady Bearcats will then close the regular season with the Bearcat Invitational April 1 in Greenwood.
