We may live in the bible belt, but church attendance is falling.
The result?
South Carolina is now the 19th most sinful state in the nation, a new study says.
Personal finance website WalletHub compared the 50 states across 43 indicators of immorality including violent crimes per capita, excessive drinking, and share of the population with gambling disorders.
The study ranked states based on 7 sinful behaviors: anger and hatred, jealousy, excesses and vices, greed, lust, vanity and laziness.
SC was found 7th worst for “anger and hatred” and 11th worst for “jealousy.” It was near the bottom for “greed,” coming in at 41st.
The most sinful states were Nevada, Florida and California. The most angelic were Vermont, Maine and North Dakota.
Consider this going into the Mardi Gras weekend, and keep a look out for some new faces at church this Sunday.
