Lexington 4 Betas win at national convention

National Beta Club members from Lexington School District 4 are celebrating their recent accomplishments at the National Beta Club Convention in Orlando, Fla. Students from across the nation in grades 4 through 12 gathered at the Swan and Dolphin Convention Center in Walt Disney World from June 25 to July 2 to showcase their talents and academic abilities. Lexington 4 students competed in a variety of individual and team events in which they won a combined 22 awards.

Sandhills Primary and Elementary School students placed in 2 individual competitions and 4 team competitions in the elementary division. Caroline Geiger placed 7th in Fiber Arts and Taylor Boone placed 9th in Black and White Photography. Noah Browning, Briley Calvert, Caroline Geiger, Lauren Harper, and Jayla Knotts placed 2nd in Rapid Response. Noah Browning, Briley Calvert, Jeremy Pineda Fuentes, and Torrin Strawderman placed 7th in Meeting of the Minds. Taylor Boone, Noah Browning, Briley Calvert, Caroline Geiger, and Lauren Harper placed 10th in Living Literature. Taylor Boone, Becca Bracy, Noah Browning, Briley Calvert, Caroline Geiger, and Lauren Harper placed 2nd in Candidate Skit. In addition to these competitions, 4th grader Olivia Chavis was elected National Elementary Beta Vice President; she will represent Lexington 4 at the national level for the next year.

Frances Mack Intermediate School students placed in 3 individual competitions and two team competitions in the elementary and junior divisions. Anabella Johnson placed 10th in Recyclable Art. Emilea Harmon placed 10th in Digital Art. Aleigha Capilos placed 9th in Jewelry. Hagen Frick, Chelsea Peterson, Kiley Revels, and Georgia Nell Wilder placed 5th in Lead Outside the Box. Hagen Frick, Anabella Johnson, Chelsea Peterson, and Kiley Revels placed 5th in Rapid Response.

Sandhills Middle School students placed in one individual competition and one team competition in the junior division. Ivy Collins placed 9th in Meeting of the Minds. Dalton Black, Ivy Collins, Chapel-Anne Farris, Charlie Hightower, and Reese Speares placed 4th in Rapid Response.

Swansea High Freshman Academy and Swansea High School students placed in 5 individual competitions and 4 team competitions in the senior division. Logan Sightler placed 1st in 9th Grade Social Studies and 9th in Black and White Photography. Angelica Valentin placed 3rd in Color Photography. Kaylee Brown placed 6th in 9th Grade Agriscience. Jocelyne Mora Francisco placed 10th in 11th Grade Spanish. Aurelio Alvarez, Oscar Alvarez, Dyllon Kinlaw, and Sara Lackey placed 1st in Convention Invention. Kaylee Brisco, Charlotte Beth Burns, Brooke Livingston, and Hayden Moody placed 6th in Freshman Problem Solving. Wendy Favila and Lauren Knight placed 9th in Two-Dimensional Design.
