Were you a bit Irish last weekend? St. Patrick’ was celebrated with shamrocks, leprechauns and green attire Saturday. Broadcaster Joe Pinner emceed. It was great to see retired Army Col. Dan Hennigan, a parade organizer, and our own Chronicle Editor Emeritus Jerry Bellune there offering support.

Bill and Vicki Shannahan of Lexington County Blowfish Baseball were parade originators. Grand Marshal WCOS radio’s Jonathan Rush led the parade along with the Ancient Hibernians waving flags.

Great to see pretty Anna Farley, Jr. Miss Ireland, Congressman Joe Wilson, Connick School Irish dancers, White Knoll Jr. NROTC, the Blowfish mascot and Town Council, including Mayor Steve MacDougall and Clerk of Court Lisa Comer, Kellan Fenegan, Miss SC Teen and Miss River Bluff High School, many other queens, dancers, scouts, bands, LHS Jr. ROTC, parade host Matt O’Hara and Clifford Fisher’s camel Abraham chuggin’ a Mountain Dew!

THE ONLY good thing about daylight saving time is setting your clock forward Saturday night put you an hour closer to breakfast Sunday. Why did they pick 2 am on Sunday? Wouldn’t 4 pm Friday be better? That great philosopher Maxine said, “If it weren’t for springing forward and falling back, I’d get no exercise at all.”

Have you adjusted to the time change? I think there are still some sleepy eyes!
