Lexington theater perseveres through covid

The Lexington Village Theater is turning 60.

The theater has been a staple for live entertainment for the past 6 decades.

But covid-19 has kept it shut down.

Since the pandemic, they have been unable to sell tickets or hold in-person acting classes, and that has caused serious hardship for all involved in the Village Theater.

Those funds would have allowed the theater to introduce more youth and adults to acting and putting shows.

Leaders of the theater have been brainstorming ideas to continue performances after the covid crisis has passed. They have used the time to create The Encore Fund to raise money to do 4 things:

• Increase opportunities for children and youth

• Create new partnershi with the community

• Enhance the beauty of the grounds and facilities

• Deepen their commitment to providing an inclusive place where all are valued

The Encore Fund will als give local businesses and theater lovers a chance to show their civic and community pride. Their goal is to raise $30,000 by December 31.

Corporate donations are welcome. Some employers have programs that will match your donation to charitable organizations.

For details on how to donate to this worthy cause, contact the Theater at EncoreFund@villagesquaretheater.com .
