This week Gilbert Middle School honored our veterans on Veterans Day.

GMS students submitted forms and pictures with veterans’ names wrote essays on what Veterans Day means to them. Centerville Elementary students submitted pictures of family member veterans. Each had their name and branch of service.

CES personnel put together a patriotic salute video of the veterans. This special video was posted to CES’s Facebook and Twitter pages on Veteran’s Day. Many churches in our community also honored Veterans during their morning services.

As we approach the Christmas season an event many love is Little Bethlehem in Gilbert. For 16 years thousands have toured Little Bethlehem and enjoyed interacting with the people in the town. After touring the birthplace of Christ everyone enjoyed hot chocolate and Middle Eastern bread. In lieu of Little Bethlehem this year, First Baptist of Gilbert will have a drive-thru live Christmas Nativity. The church will showcase the prophecy of Christ’s birth in the manger. Dates for the live nativity are Saturday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 12 6 to 8 pm. For more information call 803-892-3699.

Gilbert High Lady Indians competed in the AAA Lower State Championship. Those who were in the championship games were: Megan Powers, Lily Boatwright, Rachael Davis, Jasmine Campbell, Sami Fonseca, Emily Humphries, and Victoria Leiter.
