It’s Easter week and the events are plentiful relating to the observance of the holiday, both in church services and other events.
Many churches will mark Maundy Thursday and Good Friday tonight and tomorrow night with special evening services, so consult the individual church sites for more information on those. For other special events over the weekend, here are a few of the ones I know about:
Red Bank Baptist is hosting this year’s Community Sunrise Service, a joint effort between the former Union Church congregations at Red Bank UMC, St. James Lutheran and Red Bank Baptist. The service starts at 6:30 am, with a full breakfast following the service.
The Church at White Knoll is hosting an outdoor Sunrise Service beginning at 7 am at the Red Bank Arena on Nazareth Road; it will be followed by a Family Egg Hunt and the giveaway of a $200 prize pack. Children in attendance will receive a goodie bag. The offering taken at the service will be donated to two local nonprofits, Lighthouse For Life and Sole Stepping.
Red Bank United
Methodist Church’s choir will present the Easter Cantata, “One Day,” at the 11 am service at the church Easter Sunday, April 21.
Lexington Church of God begins a new worship schedule on Sunday April 21, with an added Contemporary Service at noon, plus the usual early service at 9 am and a traditional service at 10:30.
Happy Birthday this week to Leslie Black, Irma McKay, Noah Thomasson, Edward Shumpert, Susan Bishop, Connor Hart, Donna Shirey, Connor Howell, Stephen Taylor, Jr., Jeffery Campbell, Kristen Brown, Jodi Drennon, Terry Taylor, Jenny Fox, and Doretha Crolley.
Happy Anniversary to Robert and Rita Sox.
