A Columbia man is accused of attempting to rob a gas station on Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia, according to a Facebook post from the city’s police department.
Darius Hakeem Jones, 30, is charged with robbery while armed with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and possession of a firearm during a violent crime following the incident at the Circle K located at 1190 Sunset Blvd.
Citing West Columbia Police Chief Marion Boyce, the post states that “Jones pointed a gun at the attendant on duty and demanded the money from the cash register.”
After his arrest, Jones was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center. His bond is set at $75,000.
“Our officers did a great job of gathering evidence on the initial scene, finding out who this person was, and then charging him appropriately,” Boyce is quoted in the Facebook post.
