In a highly emotional appearance, the mother of 5 slain Red Bank children broke down in tears. Amber Kyzer sobbed and hyperventilated on the stand testifying in the murder trial of her former husband Timothy Ray Jones Jr. The Red Bank father faces the death penalty if a Lexington County jury finds him guilty and sane of murdering his children in their home Aug. 28, 2014. He has pled not guilty by reason of insanity. Amber Kyzer and Jones divorced in 2013. The 5 children - Merah, 8; Elias, 7; Nahtahn, 6; Gabriel, 2 and Abigail, 1 - lived with their father. Kyzer, who has since remarried, broke down on the stand Monday after reading a letter she wrote to 8-year-old Merah after the divorce: “Merah, my sweet, sweet daughter. I know your heart feels heavy... you kids are my world. Mommy and daddy were blessed to have you.” “My babies, my babies,” she wailed. “Oh God, oh God. “Help me, help me.” When she burst into tears, Judge Eugene Griffith stopped the testimony and sent the jury from court. As she was helped from the courtroom, she was heard saying, “my babies should still be alive.” Jones sat emotionless during the outburst. Kyzer testified she last heard from her children the night of the killings when she called to check on them. Jones was angry and yelling at 6-year-old Nahtahn for apparently blowing out 4 electrical outlets in the mobile home. She asked the child what was wrong. “I didn’t mean to,” he replied to his mother. She testified she heard Jones say to the boy, “Son, you could have killed yourself.” Last week, investigators testified that after that phone call, Jones killed Nahtahn and strangled the other 4. “Tim got mad,” Kyzer said. “Why do you always have to defend the kids?” she said he asked her. “He told me to shut the f**k up and hung up.” She called 6 or 7 times more that night always getting his voicemail.
