Wilson Oxner of Gilbert Scout Troop 60 has earned the highest rank of Eagle Scout. Oxner earned his award shortly before his 13th birthday. This makes him the youngest Eagle Scout for the troop.

Wilson Oxner of Gilbert Scout Troop 60 has earned the highest rank of Eagle Scout. Oxner earned his award shortly before his 13th birthday. This makes him the youngest Eagle Scout for the troop.

Troop 60 Scouts are now selling tickets for their July 4 barbecue fundraiser. This year they will have a drive through setup at the scout hut, 713 Juniper Springs Road.

Barbecue plates or pulled pork by the pound are $10. Plates have for pulled pork, hash and rice, baked beans, bread, pickle slices and cutlery. With each order you get a chance to win a Blue Rhino grill.

GILBERT TOWN COUNCIL held final reading on their budget last week. Last year’s budget had revenue and expenses of $209,490. The proposed budge is $205,490 a reduction of $4,000. The millage for the town at 5 mills will continue.

THE NEW Dollar Tree at 4079 Augusta Highway is larger than the ones in Lexington and Batesburg.

PRICES COUNTRY Store in Gilbert has free cardboard boxes in all sizes for storage or packing for moving.

GILBERT UNITED Methodist Church’s Nurture Committee has donated 231 pounds of food and $680 to the 1st Calvary Food Bank. The church wanted to help those hurt by the lockdown. Volunteers created and placed encouraging signs with Bible verses in Gilbert and Summit.
