‘Peel Out’ walk raised some funds

About 15 people registered for the “Peel-Out” walk. This walk is an annual event sponsored by the Pelion American Legion in honor of the oldest veteran in our community, Tom Peel. Mr. Tom is 93 years young and kept up with the crowd on the 5K walk. Donations were received and will go towards the purchase of new vests for the Pelion Police Department. Mr. Tom will also be an honorary at tendee at the annual Pelion Ruritan Veterans Memorial service where he will assist in raising the new flag at the monument.

WITH THE CURRENT corona virus situation, all schools are closed. The library and senior center are also closed until further notice.

THE AMERICAN LEGION will host Family Fireflies May 23. Game Night with the Columbia time is 6:05 pm and Fireflies will play the gates open at 5 pm. The come enjoy a night of Asheville Tourists. So fun at the ballpark with family and friends while supporting the American Legion and Legion Riders.

Each ticket receives a free Fireflies hat. chase at $3.50 each. Food vouchers are $5 Fireflies lapel pins are available for pur and include a hot dog, chips and a soda.

The Legion Riders will be recognized with a parade on the field before the anthem. Contact Nick Spano at 803-888-3002 for more information.

THE LOCAL RESTAURANTS are closed for inside dining but offer curbside pickup or delivery. Call each restaurant for more information.
