The 40th Pelion Peanut Party was a huge success. Lots of people turned out for the parade, good food, craft vendors, rides and fireworks. During the opening ceremony, the American Legion Post 101 presented Chief John Rebolj with a quilt of valor. Ryan McCabe and Kit Spires also presented Paul Kirby with a certificate from the state House of Representatives for his service over the years. The winners of the parade trophies were Larry’s Laser Engraving (Most Humorous), Pelion Baptist Church (Proud Peanut) and Pelion Elementary School Archery Team (Best Overall). Congratulations to the winners.

Pelion was awarded a grant to upgrade the old Train Station Warehouse. Future plans are to make this structure a museum and a meeting place.

The Pelion walking trail will soon have a new marker honoring D. F. Shumpert, Jr. There will be a ceremony upon installation and the trail will be named for him.

A reminder that the playground is a no-smoking area. Please be respectful of the children and others that frequent the playground.
