Pelion Police Chief Mike Crider made his final 10-42 dispatch call Friday evening, Oct. 23, officially retiring from the Pelion Police force.
Chief Crider started in law enforcement in May of 1992 with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office then came over to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department until July of 2004, when he joined the Town of Pelion’s Police force. Chief Crider worked under Chief Chris Garner and when Chief Garner retired, he was promot ed to chief in Pelion.
“It’s been great working in Pelion,” said Crider, who put in 16 years with the town. “The Pelion Town Council and residents have always given me their full support.”
Mayor Frank Shumpert stated that, “It’s been a great honor to work with Chief Crider and only wish him the best in his retirement.”
Officer John Rebolj will be Pelion’s Interim Chief of Police until a new chief is appointed for the town.
