This summer, Forts Pond Elementary School first grade teacher Mrs. Beth Guier was chosen to be on Wheel of Fortune. The show aired on September 11 and she came in second place. She traveled to Hollywood this summer for Teacher’s Week. She did an awesome job on the show.

To the person who damaged the granite bench and knocked it partially from the brick base at the Ruritan Veterans Memorial: shame on you. And thanks to Tim Treaster for making arrangements with Ron Clamp to have this damage repaired. Also, thanks to Dwight Rish for replacing the burned-out light at the base of the flag.

Pelion High will hold make-up order day for juniors and seniors September 25 at 11:30 am. There will be a Homecoming Pep Rally September 27 at 11:05 am.

Pelion Panthers will play C. A. Johnson at home September 20 at 7:30 pm. Girls varsity tennis plays Williston September 23 at 5 pm. JV/V volleyball plays Strom Thurmond September 24 at 5 pm. The Cross Country Pelion Invitational meets at 5:15 September 25. Girls varsity tennis plays at Gilbert September 26 at 4 pm and JV/V volley ball plays at Gilbert at 5 pm.

Happy birthday to Reese Caughman, Aidan Free, and Gail Corley.

Pelion Library will host technology training September 25 at 10:30 am with registration required. Preschool story time is September 25 at 11 am for ages 1-5. Home Archiving will be held September 19 at 6 pm. If you have family heirlooms, pictures, film or documents that you want to preserve for years to come then join the library for this informative workshop. North of 50 meets September 24 at 11:15 am for ages 60 and up. This month’s focus is ‘register to vote day.’ Tweens meet September 26 at 6 pm for Lego Mania. This is for grades 4-12.

Pelion Senior Center will participate in the Senior sports games September 23 through September 27.
